This 1750 RPM 1/2 HP power brush replaces a 1/4 HP furnace squirrel cage motor power brush I used for many years to clean rusted steel, threads and remove paint. It's portable but it's rubber feet cause it to stay put, never once do I remember it moving from applying pressure to the brush. It's a good handy tool that has saved me time and improved my welding. I believe I used a 10" eye bolt for attaching it's adjustable tool table and two Crosby cable fasteners to hold the angle iron table on. It has a six inch crimped wire brush, an eight inch brush caused to much vibration.

Poor Man’s Jay Leno’s Garage: Zero-Turn Mower Re-Power & Mods http://haodnwuyabdkdnamankms.bug-o.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/poor-man’s-jay-leno’s-garage-zero-turn-mower-re-power-mods http://haodnwuyabdkdnamankms.bug-o.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/poor-man’s-jay-leno’s-garage-zero-turn-mower-re-power-mods

But, the video covers a lot, so I would also include photo clippings from the video too, along with the text description from the YouTube site itself, but the forum here doesn't post photos directly, so I'll include a link to a duplicate thread I've started at another forum, where the photo clippings are shown. Strangely, the Everlast Forum is having trouble posting photos lately too.

http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?677831-Poor-Man%92s-Jay-Leno%92s-Garage-Zero-Turn-Mower-Re-Power-amp-Mods

"Christian Livingstone shares his zero-turn mower re-powering project, going from a 12 HP Single cylinder motor to a 20 HP Twin cylinder overhead valve motor, to compensate for a larger mowing deck installation on his 1995 Dixon, model 3304. The video is somewhat lengthy, at about 78 minutes, so there may only be genuine appeal for the true riding mower enthusiasts. But, there is quite a bit of welding and fabrication demonstrated, including a custom, aluminum, diamond plate gas tank, along with a conversion from a vacuum actuated fuel pump to an electric fuel pump. An exhaust modification is made. Best practices for the bending of aluminum sheet to minimize cracking is shown. Some novice wiring and troubleshooting is done. A pulley ratio is changed, along with increasing the engine's top no-load speed to a seemingly modest 3100 RPMs, giving the mower a faster travel speed without outrunning the ability of the blade speed to give a finished cut. The application and use of pre-emergent herbicide is touched upon, along with some brief mention of incidental topics and views, too. A recap is given with rationales for most of the actions taken. On a couple video segments Christian is assisted by a neighbor/friend, who may be the first person in human history to TIG weld for the first time while having someone else doing the filler metal deposition. Otherwise, Christian humorously frames the project as a “Poor Man’s Jay Leno’s Garage: Dixon Mower Re-Power & Mods”.]]>

I cut some 1/4 " flat stock with my new Milwaukee 8" metal cutting saw. Oh, that was so sweet. It was like the same effort in cutting wood. It just slid right through.

I also finally got to use my AlphaMig 250. That puppy cooks. My first test run I laid a bead with no penetration that was about 3/8 of an inch high. :) After about 8 runs with constant tweaking, I was able to lay down some decent welds. There is going to be a learning curve for me with this machine every day and lots of test welds before I weld anything I'm working on.
The AlphaMIG 250 is a step up for me from the Lincoln ProMIG 140 (with a very short duty cycle)that I've been using for the last 6 years. Before now if I needed a deep weld with plenty of amps I used my old Craftsman Stick Welder.

Anyway, I'm getting rained out Sunday and probably Monday as well. :(

I was going to post some pics but I just figured out I have to upload elsewhere and then link the url. I'll have to figure that out after I get some sleep
edit:
My work around for photos was to build my own Joomla website. :D

Damaged area prepped
http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae99/InfernoST/IMG_0185_zps0xupmssy.jpg

It opened up like a beer can when I hit it with the torch, melted away like a burning paper receipt which shocked the crap out of me. I was going to quit and put it back in the garbage pile but decided not too because I wouldn't learn anything if I just gave up, now how do i close the hole.
http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae99/InfernoST/IMG_0186_zpsoahvxs7u.jpg

I lowered the current to 55amps and went from 3/32 rod to 1/16th which helped quite a bit, I really wasn't prepared for how thin the metal was from the corrosion. I've only been welding for 1 week and really felt this was way beyond me at this stage, I stepped back and accessed the situation and figured If go back far enough where the steel is much thicker I can start building it up from there so that is what I did but had to do it very slowly letting it cool down frequently so I wouldn't blow though the pipe again. I hope I did the right thing.

The finished product, I know I have to practice my grinding skills too. So after 3hrs of work she is back in the bulk garbage pile. Please any and all advice and criticism welcome.

Accessible RV http://haodnwuyabdkdnamankms.bug-o.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/accessible-rv http://haodnwuyabdkdnamankms.bug-o.com/index.php/en/weekendwarrior/accessible-rv
Just thought I would put up a link to an RV I converted for use by my partner who is paralyzed from the shoulders down and needs care every 4 hours. She had never traveled as she needed to be near a hospital bed.

I was going to buy a lift but I only paid $18K for a 10 year old motor home and they wanted $25K for just the outside lift.

I designed and built a lift to get her in, designed an built a lift running the length to get her from the wheelchair to the bed and installed two hospital beds on rails so that they move from side to side to give room to get on each side of the bed.

I am now building an elevator. We got a quote from two companies of $40K. I got an old electric forklift for $850. I stripped the mast off and mounted it in the house. I am working on the hydraulics right now. I will post pictures of this project when I get some.
